For example, when changing the dimensions of the diaphragm where they are applied. This is what happens when it deforms as a result of the pressure action outside the device.<\/p><p>The diaphragm separates two chambers:<\/p><p>One, sealed by a glass plate, contains absolute vacuum; it is called aneroid chamber.<\/p><p>The other chamber is in direct communication with the vacuum source (manifold) through a hose.<\/p><p>The signal generated by the sensor is the result of the deformation suffered by the diaphragm when subjected to pressure variations.<\/p><p>In its practical application, this type of sensor (analog sensor) has an associated electronic circuit that transforms resistance variations (pressure variations) into electrical voltage variations. (Fig.2)<\/p><p>The sensor is supplied with a reference voltage (5V stabilized) supplied by the control unit (ECU).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e105e63 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e105e63\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Vacuum Sensor\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6dc3685 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6dc3685\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are piezoresistive sensors without aneroid chamber. In this case, the diaphragm has one of its faces subjected to the collector vacuum and the other to atmospheric pressure.<\/p><p>This type of sensor measures depression comparing to atmospheric pressure. It is a vacuum sensor.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc1f336 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fc1f336\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What is Combined Sensor? Is it a MAP + Temperature sensor?\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-731328a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"731328a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Currently, there are systems that use absolute pressure sensors located directly on the intake manifold. The pressure sensor is encapsulated together with the inlet air temperature sensor in the same housing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5bbd95b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5bbd95b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Where it is located?\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3e697a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3e697a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The MAP sensor is located in the engine\u2019s vault, connected to the intake manifold by a hose approximately 30 cm long.<\/p><p>The combined sensor (manifold pressure + air temperature) is mounted directly on the intake manifold.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1562c86 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1562c86\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">When does the MAP Sensor not work?\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63e993b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"63e993b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It affects directly the calculation of the allowed air mass and therefore the amount of fuel injected. Therefore, depending on the failure type, the mixture may be enriched or depleted with effects on idling, throttle response and, fuel consumption.<\/p><p>When the sensor\u2019s fault results in an \u201cout of range\u201d fault condition (short circuit or open circuit), a fault code is registered in the ECU, which can be checked and fixed using a piece of test equipment (scanner). In this case, the system enters a state of emergency.<\/p><p>When the sensor\u2019s defect results in a \u201cwithin operating range\u201d fault condition, there is usually no fault code register on the ECU.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>However, the system may not work properly, as shown above.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0ed8fe1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0ed8fe1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How can I diagnose?\n<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-04730c4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"04730c4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>For the diagnose, a use of a scanner tool is recommended to check the parameters,<\/p><p>\u201cAbsolute Pressure\u201d, \u201cCollector Pressure\u201d, \u201cMAP Sensor\u201d or similar.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The displayed value can be a variable frequency, voltage, or a pressure value in mmHg (millimeters of mercury), psi (pounds per square inch) or kPa (kilopascal).
