EXHAUST GAS PRESSURE SENSOR<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor (EGPS) or\u00a0Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)\u00a0measures the exhaust gas pressure upstream and downstream\u00a0of the Particle Filter. By monitoring the pressure difference between these two points, the saturation\u00a0level of the Particle Filter can be determined. This information allows the emission control system to\u00a0perform the regeneration of the Particle Filter, according to the European emission standards.<\/i><\/p>\n

The EGPS allows monitoring the Particulate Filter saturation by measuring the pressure difference\u00a0before and after the filter. The saturation is also controlled by the Temperature Sensors placed before\u00a0and after the filter and by an intake Mass Airflow Sensor.
\n<\/i>Once the filter\u2019s saturation is determined, the regeneration routine will be started by the system<\/p>\n

The EGPS is built with the following components:<\/p>\n

\nB. Body: Molded with engineering plastic with\u00a0high resistance
\nC. Pins: Tin soldered by automated operation
\nD. Tube before filter

Technical Data<\/h3>\n

The EGPS generates a linear output that\u00a0depends on the exhaust gas pressure
\n<\/i>difference upstream and downstream\u00a0of the Particle Filter.
\n<\/i>This relationship is shown in the\u00a0following diagram:<\/p>\n

\n<\/i>Temperature range: \u201320 to 130\u00b0C

Assembly Instructions<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Power off the engine<\/li>\n
  • Locate the sensor following the pipes coming out of the Particulate Filter<\/li>\n
  • Disconnect sensor connector<\/li>\n
  • Disconnect pressure pipes<\/li>\n
  • Extract fixation screws<\/li>\n
  • Install the new sensor, check the pressure and application<\/li>\n
  • Connect pipes and electrical connector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Failure Causes<\/h3>\n

    A careful visual inspection is the first step for the diagnosis of a problem.
    \n<\/i>Check for cracks, bumps or any damage to the sensor\u2019s housing and connecting pipes.
    \n<\/i>Make sure there is no air leakage in the sensor, pipes and connecting joints.
    \n<\/i>Also, check for signs of wear in the connector or wirings that could lead to electrical problems.
    \n<\/i>If none of the problems above have been observed, the failure can be due to a damaged sensing\u00a0element inside the sensor.
    \n<\/i>Failure causes can be;
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Breaks, pores or cracks in the pipes.
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Wear signs in the connector or wirings
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Damage of the sensing element causing bad pressure readings
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Air leakage in the sensor
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Wear in the joints between the sensor and the pipes<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Malfunction<\/h3>\n

    The malfunction of the EGPS may lead to different problems:
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Dashboard light for both Particulate Filter and Pre-heating (blinking light).
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Unnecessary filter regeneration, leading to reduction of filter life
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Power losses if the sensor is not detecting the filter saturation level
    \n<\/i>\u2022 Increased consumption of oil<\/p>\n
